“Retrieve rendered webpages, search-engine results and structured extraction output using Oxylabs services.”
01 / THE REASONING
Why this made the selection.
- Retrieve rendered webpages, search-engine results and structured extraction output using Oxylabs services.
- The setup documentation makes this operating boundary explicit: Different credentials authorize separate product toolsets; HTTP mode forwards credentials per request through Basic and AI Studio headers.
02 / THE REVIEW RECORD
What we actually inspected.
Source review has boundaries.
A clear record is more useful than a “safe” badge.
Material inspected
- README.md
- LICENSE
- pyproject.toml
- src/oxylabs_mcp/config.py
Our findings
- Different credentials authorize separate product toolsets; HTTP mode forwards credentials per request through Basic and AI Studio headers.
- Local mode selects tools from configured credentials, while HTTP lists tools even without working credentials. OAuth-only remote clients cannot supply the required headers.
Not established by this review
- No server installation, authentication, live tool execution or isolation test was performed.
- Package/container parity with the pinned source and transitive dependency security were not established.
The review applies to the material and revision named here. A newer upstream release can change its behavior.
03 / PUT IT TO WORK
Connect a server deliberately.
DOCUMENTED COMMAND
uvx oxylabs-mcp Copying does not execute this command. It may retrieve a newer version than the reviewed source.
- Launch uvx oxylabs-mcp with Python >=3.12,<4. Set OXYLABS_USERNAME and OXYLABS_PASSWORD for Web Scraper API, or OXYLABS_AI_STUDIO_API_KEY for AI Studio; omit unused placeholder credentials.
- Verify the connected account, available tools and target resource before authorizing mutations.
Before you start
- Pinned package Python requirement: >=3.12, <4.
- A compatible local process MCP client.
- Different credentials authorize separate product toolsets; HTTP mode forwards credentials per request through Basic and AI Studio headers.
04 / FOLLOW THE EVIDENCE
