Web Quality Audit

Runs an evidence-led site audit across performance, accessibility, SEO, best practices and agentic browsing, routing each check to live traces first with CLI fallbacks, and closes with re-run verification.

“Run an evidence-led web quality audit covering performance, accessibility, SEO, best practices, and agentic browsing. Use when asked to "audit my site", "review web quality", "run lighthouse audit", "check page quality", or "optimize my website".”

01 / THE REASONING

Why this made the selection.

  • Measured findings and code-only hypotheses are kept in separate columns, and the Performance section tracks the Lighthouse move to shared Performance Insights instead of requiring retired audit IDs.
  • The bundled analyze.sh helper is explicitly a read-only smoke test with capped, jq-structured output, not a substitute for a rendered-page audit.

02 / THE REVIEW RECORD

What we actually inspected.

Source review has boundaries.
A clear record is more useful than a “safe” badge.

Material inspected

  • skills/web-quality-audit/SKILL.md
  • skills/web-quality-audit/scripts/analyze.sh
  • LICENSE
  • README.md (installation command audit at the existing pin)

Our findings

  • The tool-routing table prefers recorded browser traces and DevTools insights with CLI fallbacks, and never blocks the audit on optional setup.
  • The contrast guidance states ratios only (4.5:1 normal text, 3:1 large text) with no px-or-pt size threshold, so it does not repeat the sibling skill's unit error.
  • The output format separates an evidence table from prioritized issues and requires a verification section with re-run results under the same conditions.

Not established by this review

  • No site was audited with this skill.
  • The helper script and Lighthouse flows were read but not executed.
  • Not executed: it was not installed or run.

The review applies to the material and revision named here. A newer upstream release can change its behavior.

03 / PUT IT TO WORK

DOCUMENTED COMMAND

npx skills add addyosmani/web-quality-skills/skills/web-quality-audit --skill web-quality-audit

Run in your terminal to choose your AI tools, project or global scope, and installation method. This short command follows the current upstream version; the review covers the revision shown above.

Optional: install the reviewed revision

Keeps the original source and installer version where recorded, while leaving your AI tools and installation scope for you to choose.

npx skills add https://github.com/addyosmani/web-quality-skills/tree/afa8da942115f2961fdbfa80807ea0b232ff6c00/skills/web-quality-audit --skill web-quality-audit
  1. Install the complete skill directory with its scripts. Sibling references require separate installation and review; do not adopt the accessibility sibling’s flagged contrast table.
  2. Choose your AI tools and project or global scope in the installer, then review its permissions before using the skill.

Before you start

  • Node.js/npm for this installer
  • An agent that supports the Agent Skills format
  • A runnable page or URL plus Lighthouse or browser-trace tooling; jq for the helper
