# Web Quality Audit

Runs an evidence-led site audit across performance, accessibility, SEO, best practices and agentic browsing, routing each check to live traces first with CLI fallbacks, and closes with re-run verification.

“Run an evidence-led web quality audit covering performance, accessibility, SEO, best practices, and agentic browsing. Use when asked to "audit my site", "review web quality", "run lighthouse audit", "check page quality", or "optimize my website".”

[Addy Osmani · upstream description ↗](https://github.com/addyosmani/web-quality-skills/blob/afa8da942115f2961fdbfa80807ea0b232ff6c00/skills/web-quality-audit/SKILL.md) Our analysis follows below.

01 / THE REASONING

## Why this made the selection.

 - Measured findings and code-only hypotheses are kept in separate columns, and the Performance section tracks the Lighthouse move to shared Performance Insights instead of requiring retired audit IDs.
- The bundled analyze.sh helper is explicitly a read-only smoke test with capped, jq-structured output, not a substitute for a rendered-page audit.

### A good fit for

 - Running a broad evidence-led quality pass before launch
- Separating measured regressions from suspected issues in audit follow-ups

### Weigh up before choosing

 - Its own reference list points at the sibling accessibility skill withheld in wave 1 over a px-versus-pt contrast-table error; follow this audit's ratio-only checks and current WCAG text instead of that table.
- The 48px tap-target line is mobile guidance, stricter than the WCAG 2.2 AA 24px minimum; treat it as aspiration rather than a conformance claim.
- Depth references live in sibling skill directories, so installing only this directory leaves those cross-links unresolved.
- The source warns that Lighthouse navigation mode reloads the page and directs users to snapshot mode when authenticated or user-created state must be preserved.

02 / THE REVIEW RECORD

## What we actually inspected.

Source review has boundaries. A clear record is more useful than a “safe” badge.

### Material inspected

 - skills/web-quality-audit/SKILL.md
- skills/web-quality-audit/scripts/analyze.sh
- LICENSE
- README.md (installation command audit at the existing pin)

### Our findings

 - The tool-routing table prefers recorded browser traces and DevTools insights with CLI fallbacks, and never blocks the audit on optional setup.
- The contrast guidance states ratios only (4.5:1 normal text, 3:1 large text) with no px-or-pt size threshold, so it does not repeat the sibling skill's unit error.
- The output format separates an evidence table from prioritized issues and requires a verification section with re-run results under the same conditions.

### Not established by this review

 - No site was audited with this skill.
- The helper script and Lighthouse flows were read but not executed.
- Not executed: it was not installed or run.

The review applies to the material and revision named here. A newer upstream release can change its behavior.

03 / PUT IT TO WORK

## Add a skill to your workflow.

DOCUMENTED COMMAND

npx skills add addyosmani/web-quality-skills/skills/web-quality-audit --skill web-quality-audit Copy command ↗

Run in your terminal to choose your AI tools, project or global scope, and installation method. This short command follows the current upstream version; the review covers the revision shown above.

 Optional: install the reviewed revision

Keeps the original source and installer version where recorded, while leaving your AI tools and installation scope for you to choose.

npx skills add https://github.com/addyosmani/web-quality-skills/tree/afa8da942115f2961fdbfa80807ea0b232ff6c00/skills/web-quality-audit --skill web-quality-audit Copy reviewed-revision command ↗ - Install the complete skill directory with its scripts. Sibling references require separate installation and review; do not adopt the accessibility sibling’s flagged contrast table.
- Choose your AI tools and project or global scope in the installer, then review its permissions before using the skill.

### Before you start

 - Node.js/npm for this installer
- An agent that supports the Agent Skills format
- A runnable page or URL plus Lighthouse or browser-trace tooling; jq for the helper

### Compatibility

Agent Skills-compatible coding agents · Chrome DevTools MCP or Lighthouse CLI; jq for the bundled helper

### Target site reads and local source inspection

 - Load target URLs in a browser or audit tool
- Read site source and run the read-only analyzer
- Audits observe; fixes are separate authorized edits

### Cost model

The skill is MIT-licensed; agent calls, browsers and PageSpeed or CrUX usage remain separate.
