Why this made the selection.
- The README names four query tools and says they are read-only with readOnlyHint true.
- The hosted install puts the Plausible API key in an Authorization header, not in the chat transcript, and warns that --header must not swallow the URL.

Our findings
- Four query tools are named and described as read-only.
- The install command uses an HTTP transport and a bearer header. A local node command is also documented.
- configExample is the README's hosted block for Claude Desktop, Cursor and other clients at this commit. YOUR_PLAUSIBLE_API_KEY is the README's own placeholder.
- At this commit get_timeseries, get_breakdown, get_conversions and compare_periods each register readOnlyHint: true; send_feedback registers readOnlyHint: false and src/server.ts registers it only when enableFeedbackTool is set. src/plausible.ts calls one Plausible endpoint, POST /api/v2/query.
- Upstream on 2026-10-13: HEAD is this commit, the repository is not archived, and package.json still names the package plausible-mcp under MIT.

- No client was configured and no Plausible query was sent.
- Tool handlers were read, not executed.

- Use the README remote command. Keep the URL before --header. Replace the placeholder with a Plausible API key in the client config, not in a chat message.
- The hosted endpoint is not version-pinned. For a pinned process, the README also shows a local node dist/index.js command after pnpm install.
- The command was not run and no API key was used.

- A Plausible API key for the sites you intend to query
- Claude Code or another header-capable MCP client for the hosted command
