AWS DynamoDB MCP Server

Supports DynamoDB modeling, source-database analysis, local validation and code generation.

“The official developer experience MCP Server for Amazon DynamoDB.”

01 / THE REASONING

Why this made the selection.

  • Supports DynamoDB modeling, source-database analysis, local validation and code generation.
  • Designing and validating DynamoDB access-pattern models.

02 / THE REVIEW RECORD

What we actually inspected.

Source review has boundaries.
A clear record is more useful than a “safe” badge.

Material inspected

  • src/dynamodb-mcp-server/README.md
  • LICENSE

Our findings

  • This is not only a cloud API reader: the documented modeling workflow has filesystem, local container/Java and test-database effects.
  • The selected server.py imports the AWS API tool and registers modeling workflows; this review does not establish a universal cloud read-only boundary.
  • DDB-MCP-READONLY appears in one README install link, but enforcement was not established in selected implementation source; do not advertise it as a verified security control.
  • Database credentials, Secrets Manager access and runtime prerequisites depend on the chosen analysis/validation mode.

Not established by this review

  • The pinned documentation and selected source files were reviewed; the external server was not executed by this review.
  • No authenticated service requests, account mutations, tenant access controls, or end-to-end MCP client setup were tested.
  • A repository revision does not pin an unversioned or @latest registry package; resolved package provenance and runtime permission enforcement remain unverified.

The review applies to the material and revision named here. A newer upstream release can change its behavior.

03 / PUT IT TO WORK

Connect a server deliberately.

Upstream setup instructions ↗

DOCUMENTED COMMAND

uvx awslabs.dynamodb-mcp-server@latest

Copying does not execute this command. It may retrieve a newer version than the reviewed source.

  1. Register the uvx command.
  2. Use credentials for the account you mean.

Before you start

  • uv
  • AWS credentials for the service
