DOCUMENTATION / Microsoft Corporation
Wiki writer
Microsoft deep-wiki agent that writes VitePress markdown with dark-mode Mermaid diagrams and a citation for each claim, and that refuses to write before the git remote is resolved.
“Resolves origin and branch first, then plans, reads, writes, and validates pages with linked citations for remote repos and path citations for local ones.”
01 / THE REASONING
Why this made the selection.
- The catalogue has the deep-wiki researcher skill and not this writer agent.
- The file requires a file and line for every claim, which is a gap next to uncited documentation agents.
02 / THE REVIEW RECORD
What we actually inspected.
Source review has boundaries.
A clear record is more useful than a “safe” badge.
Material inspected
- .github/plugins/deep-wiki/agents/wiki-writer.md
- LICENSE
- README.md
- Round 2: pinned definition, output contract and permission/dependency boundaries reread on 2026-10-14
Our findings
- The agent must run git remote get-url origin and git rev-parse --abbrev-ref HEAD, and it says not to write until that context is resolved.
- Remote citations use a blob URL with a line fragment, and local repositories use a path and line without a URL.
- It requires at least two Mermaid diagram types, a sources comment after each diagram, and at least five source citations. Those minimums were not checked against a generated page.
- It requires reading implementation rather than extrapolating from names or existing prose.
- It specifies relative navigation, renderer-compatible diagrams and source attribution for visual explanations.
Not established by this review
- The agent was not executed.
- No wiki page was generated.
- No git command was run for it.
The review applies to the material and revision named here. A newer upstream release can change its behavior.
03 / PUT IT TO WORK
Use the role in your project.
DOCUMENTED COMMAND
/plugin install deep-wiki@skills Copying does not execute this command. It may retrieve a newer version than the reviewed source.
- The README says to run that slash command inside Copilot CLI after /plugin marketplace add microsoft/skills.
- The deep-wiki plugin is the package that contains this agent.
- A plugin-level LICENSE and LICENSE.md under .github/plugins/deep-wiki returned HTTP 404.
- Provide the matching wiki workflow, verify the revision and renderer, and treat diagram-count requirements as drafting guidance rather than quality proof.
Before you start
- GitHub Copilot CLI for the recorded command
- A git checkout whose origin can be resolved
