“Generate, validate, and review k6 test scripts — load, stress, spike, soak, smoke, breakpoint, functional, and protocol. Covers HTTP, WebSocket, gRPC, browser, all executors, thresholds, checks, custom metrics, the k6-testing library, k6 Cloud execution, and the xk6 extension ecosystem; uses the xk6-docs CLI (with grafana.com web fallback) for docs lookup and validates every script by running it. Use when writing, generating, validating, or debugging any k6 or load-test script (including plain-language asks like "load test this API" or "stress test my service"), choosing executors/scenarios, or setting thresholds. For end-to-end website performance suites use k6-perf-test-website; for documenting k6 itself use k6-docs.”

01 / THE REASONING

## Why this made the selection.

 - The workflow is read example, adapt, save, validate, review, and it says to skip a todo list that would only mirror those steps.
- It separates protocol load tests from the website performance suite, which is a different skill.

### A good fit for

 - Writing a load, stress, spike or soak script
- Reviewing a k6 script before it is treated as evidence
- Choose functional assertions separately from browser performance scaffolding
- Choose the source’s inspection-only validation row before executing a non-browser arrival-rate load profile.

### Weigh up before choosing

 - The validation table uses k6 run for browser scripts first; otherwise ramping-vus and arrival-rate scenarios use k6 inspect to avoid executing the entire load profile. Other rows run the script. This review did not execute any validation.
- k6 Cloud and xk6 extensions are named, but this review did not execute either.
- Example scripts and extension imports require the matching k6 environment; the documented shell-variable TTY wrapper should be verified rather than assumed to preserve shell quoting.

02 / THE REVIEW RECORD

## What we actually inspected.

Source review has boundaries. A clear record is more useful than a “safe” badge.

### Material inspected

 - skills/grafana-k6/k6/SKILL.md
- README.md
- LICENSE

### Our findings

 - Frontmatter licence is Apache-2.0 and the description lists HTTP, WebSocket, gRPC and browser.
- README recommends `npx skills add grafana/skills` for tools that follow the Agent Skills standard.
- The definition routes functional/browser requests to different examples and requires named exec functions for multiple scenarios.
- A bare async check predicate is called out as always truthy, so the check would pass silently.
- The ordered validation table prevents a full ramping or arrival-rate load profile for non-browser scripts by choosing k6 inspect; browser imports match the preceding run row.

### Not established by this review

 - The skill was not executed inside a host agent.
- No bundled script, if present, was run against a real project.
- Not executed: it was not installed or run.

The review applies to the material and revision named here. A newer upstream release can change its behavior.

03 / PUT IT TO WORK

DOCUMENTED COMMAND

npx skills add grafana/skills/skills/grafana-k6/k6 --skill k6 Copy command ↗

Run in your terminal to choose your AI tools, project or global scope, and installation method. This short command follows the current upstream version; the review covers the revision shown above.

 Optional: install the reviewed revision

Keeps the original source and installer version where recorded, while leaving your AI tools and installation scope for you to choose.

npx skills@1.7.1 add https://github.com/grafana/skills/tree/1ccacf29049fde66637fe01ab93a83a772da323b/skills/grafana-k6/k6 --skill k6 Copy reviewed-revision command ↗ - Choose your AI tools and project or global installation scope in Skills CLI. The review applies to the source revision shown on this page.
- Retain all supporting files; separately configure companion skills, runtimes and service credentials named in the definition.
- Review the resulting diff and use an isolated target before any migration, deployment, load test or warehouse operation.

### Before you start

 - The complete k6 skill directory, k6 and any required browser/extensions; permission to test the exact target and a Cloud account only for Cloud runs.

### Compatibility

Agent Skills-compatible hosts · k6

### Local Markdown instructions

 - Read the installed skill files
- No network call is made by the catalogue record itself
- Run test requests against the authorized service; browser and extension examples may launch browsers or access databases/processes.

### Cost model

Source is free to read under the stated licence. A host agent or model provider may charge for use.
