“Profile or debug CPU usage and memory allocation in deployed Cloudflare Workers and Durable Objects. Then use this information to optimize your code.”

[cloudflare · upstream description ↗](https://github.com/cloudflare/skills/blob/53395984c3ea1925d00fce03b266112302f050e6/skills/workers-profiling/SKILL.md) Our analysis follows below.

01 / THE REASONING

## Why this made the selection.

 - It profiles deployed Workers and Durable Objects by capturing a pprof file and mapping hotspots back to source.
- It prefers the cf CLI and does not install that CLI when it is missing.
- Requires account, environment, deployed version and object instance before collecting evidence.
- Requires metrics with units and acknowledges missing symbols or source mappings.

### A good fit for

 - Explaining a CPU or allocation hotspot in a deployed Worker after a profile capture
- Find a CPU hotspot in a deployed Worker.
- Investigate allocation pressure in a named Durable Object instance.

### Weigh up before choosing

 - The skill does not install cf and does not start a profile without the account, Worker, and deployed version.
- A report without symbols is incomplete: missing source maps must be stated rather than guessed.
- It does not ship a parser; analysis is left to reading the pprof file or Go's pprof tool.
- This review did not execute the resource.
- Requires an accessible deployed workload and a supported profiling interface.
- Generated JavaScript without source maps may prevent reliable attribution to original functions.

02 / THE REVIEW RECORD

## What we actually inspected.

Source review has boundaries. A clear record is more useful than a “safe” badge.

### Material inspected

 - skills/workers-profiling/SKILL.md
- README.md
- LICENSE

### Our findings

 - The procedure starts from the production profiling guide and then chooses CPU or heap profiling.
- Where possible it uses the cf CLI against the deployed Worker; if cf is absent it asks before any install.
- The profiling API returns a pprof file, and the skill does not claim to call that API by itself.
- Optimisation is limited to the smallest code change supported by the capture.
- Workflow separates capture, evidence inspection, optimization and reporting.
- It provides no synthetic benchmark or automatic performance guarantee.

### Not established by this review

 - The resource was not executed and its tools were not called.
- No skill execution, authenticated service operation, or outcome benchmark was performed.
- Not executed: it was not installed or run.

The review applies to the material and revision named here. A newer upstream release can change its behavior.

03 / PUT IT TO WORK

## Add a skill to your workflow.

DOCUMENTED COMMAND

npx skills add cloudflare/skills/skills/workers-profiling Copy command ↗

Run in your terminal to choose your AI tools, project or global scope, and installation method. This short command follows the current upstream version; the review covers the revision shown above.

 Optional: install the reviewed revision

Keeps the original source and installer version where recorded, while leaving your AI tools and installation scope for you to choose.

npx skills add https://github.com/cloudflare/skills/tree/53395984c3ea1925d00fce03b266112302f050e6/skills/workers-profiling Copy reviewed-revision command ↗ - Install the pinned skill directory interactively, retaining its bundled references and scripts.
- Confirm the affected version and choose CPU or heap profiling from the current guide.
- Use supported cf CLI help/schema where available, then inspect pprof output and remeasure the smallest proposed change.

### Before you start

 - Cloudflare account with profiling access
- Optional cf CLI and pprof analysis tooling

### Compatibility

Agents supporting directory-based SKILL.md instructions

### Local instructions; runtime access depends on the workflow

 - Reads production execution profiles and source locations; treat captures as application-sensitive evidence.

### Cost model

The skill is free; service usage and infrastructure can incur charges.

04 / FOLLOW THE EVIDENCE
