# Frontier history

When models joined and left the leaderboard's [value frontier](https://undominated.ai/frontier/), how many frontier rows each published day file holds, and what the cheapest model above each score floor cost.

Each day file is the catalogue as the pipeline recorded it that day, kept as published: an observation, not a replay of the day's decisions. It can differ from the board's current reading of the same day where a later [correction](https://undominated.ai/corrections/) or hold applies. It holds each row's LMArena scores, six workload prices, frontier flag and significance rank, not the full catalogue.

As of Oct 6, 2026, **4** day files are published and **13** recorded days are withheld, each with the rule that withheld it in the [manifest](/data/snapshots/index.json). The wire, as of Oct 6, 2026, lists **21** frontier joins and **18** leaves on 9 days. 5 of them are for a model priced by time of day, and are marked.

The manifest's counts per day file. They count rows, variants included: a day file carries no family key, so it cannot count models.

## Joins and leaves

From the [wire](https://undominated.ai/wire/), newest first. Each event compares two recorded snapshots, and the wire names them; some of those days are withheld from publication, so an event can fall between two published day files. A model joins or leaves when the board changes around it, or when its own score or price moves. For a model priced by time of day, the recorded price is the window in force when the feed was read, so its events are marked: they can be the hour of the read, not a move.

 - ### Oct 6, 2026 Changes dated 2026-10-06 are measured against the 2026-09-30 day file, which is kept as that morning's release published it (03:34 UTC). A later release the same day (16:45 UTC) had already shown some of them: 9 of the 12 frontier moves dated 2026-10-06 were on the site from that release. One change since that release has no event here: Gemma 4 26B A4B is on the frontier again. The price-at-floor table below is a separate published series, [price-at-floor.json](/data/series/price-at-floor.json), not a reading of the published day files. It takes one point from every day file the pipeline recorded: 18 dates from 2026-08-24 to 2026-10-06, of which 4 are published day files, 13 are withheld , and 1 (2026-09-19) is in neither list of the manifest . For each floor it publishes only the cheapest standard-delivery model, its balanced price and its score. Its last point is priced at the [reference price](https://undominated.ai/methodology/#reference-price); the earlier points are OpenRouter’s model-level price, which the site published before that rule ([§96](https://undominated.ai/corrections/#correction-2026-10-05-96-a-model-s-price-was-whichever-row-set-openrouter-s-model-level-price-promotions-and-4-bit-copies-included)).
